Once upon a time, there was an Indian Rowing Team. India and Japan agreed to do an annual rowing championship. Each team would have eight people
Both teams worked hard to be in best shape. The day race started, both teams were in similar conditions, but the Japanese won by a mile.
The mood in Indian team was really in freeze point. The top management decided to win the race next year. So they established a team of analysts to observe the situation and make necessary suggestions.
After several detailed analysis, the team concluded that Japanese team had one captain and seven rowers, while Indian team had seven captains and only one rower.
Facing such critical scenario, the management showed an unexpected wisdom: they hired the consulting company to restructure the Indian team. In the meanwhile, a new minister was inducted in a ministry and his kin was to be rewarded with some official position of consultant and his kin was appointed as one.
After several months, the consultants came up with the conclusion that there were too many captains and too few rowers in Indian team A solution was proposed based on this analysis and the structure of Indian team had to be changed.
There would be one rower, only four captains in the rowing team, led by two managers and one senior manager. Besides, rower would be given higher competencies to improve his working environment.
Next year Japan won by 2 miles.
Immediately rower in Indian team was sacked for unsatisfactory performance, but the award was paid to top management for showing exemplary motivation during preparation phase.
The consulting team was again assigned new job and concluded strategy was good, motivation was ok but the used tool was to be improved.
Currently new design of boat is under preparation by another of minister’s appointee.
