Chitral valley lies in the Hindukush range in Pakistan. Pakistan has been blessed by nature with three of the young mountain ranges located towards the North of Pakistan. These fold mountains have lots of very beautiful valleys in them. Some of them are lush green and others are snow covered all through the year. Although all of them are beautiful, some of them may be considered better than the other ones due to some particular trait. Kailash culture adds value to the visit of Chitral valley. Chitral valley lies towards the Pakistan Afghanistan border. It is a very nice place to visit. If you plan to travel to Chitral valley, you can do so by traveling through Karakoram highway. Chitral valley is linked with Gilgit by Shandur Pass. You can reach Chitral by reaching Gilgit by road or by air. Gilgit does have an airport which connects this part of Pakistan to the rest of Pakistan. Traveling by road to Gilgit may be fun. Most of the Track especially in the trans-Himalayan region is beside Indus. You can enjoy the beauty of the Indus River along with the picturesque views of mountains. You can reach Gilgit in 20 hours if you travel by road from Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan. Once you reach Gilgit, you only need to cross the Shandur pass. It is an elevated pass and is very beautiful to visit.. Before reaching Shandur Pass you have to pass through Gopus valley, Yaseen valley and Phandur valley. Phandur is the most famous of these valleys. Then you reach Barst and finally, after crossing the Shandur pass, you enter the actual Chitral valley. The pace is as beautiful as you always imagined it to be. You can visit Kafiristan or Kailash valley while you are staying here. You should visit this area in summers. You need to carry warm clothes even in summers. The bright sunny days may be mild to hot but generally the weather here is cool. Winters are cold. Do carry your first aid box with you.
